Sairat and Dhadak: No competition.

What drives us to watch a Bollywood movie: trailer and songs right? But what do u actually see in a movie? Its story plot, and finally the moral right? We need to be told something to get engaged into a screenplay. A movie represents fantastic flow of whatever width of plot it casts at first and makes an impression. Here is my first attempt to writing movie reviews, and I have chosen to write about a movie that was a biggesst gross income on Marathi, and a remake on Hindi. i.e. of "Sairat" and "Dhadak".
 P.S. I am really not caring about the spoilers, so if u don't want to get some, don't read down....... read it later though,,,, lol.

A brilliant job over a single small plot: inter cast love story by director Nagraj Manjule, Sairat is a heart touching love story that successfully presents social structure and functions in Marathi context but as many remakes it has, proves it to be contextual for other portions of India as well. Chaotic situations created out of vulnerabilities and insecurities in the society has been artistically portrayed through down- to- the - earth and realistic acting by Archana Patil urf Archee (Rinku Rajguru) against Prashant Kale urf Parshya (Akash Thosar). The movie starts from one sided fantasy of  a college student belonging to a low class family with a smooth flow building two sided love with a classmate from high class family. Most adorable part of this movie is real location shooting with  normal setup starting from plate of food to dressing table of heroine that shows resourcefulness of the crew. The screenplay of Archee has been particularly designed to help show dominating, overpowering and strong personality against vulnerable and shy Parshya. Everything including makeup, costumes, college and relevant upper and poor class family's houses sets, society, farms and cultural celebrations have  been equipped in a non-fancy and realistic way whereas skillfully written dialogues showing passion and intimate gestures while the relationship grows  surely fits the taste of audience and engages them to a deeper level.
Despite intriguing soundtracks and backplays by Ajay atul, that compels  the audience to empathize with lovebirds, their romance and struggles, one negative aspect of this movie that was left out unnoticed is repeated cinematography: scene of movies like Aashiqui 2 and  Jab we met, , i.e. camera location on the top while rain in black and white converse costume of the leads.  Though story is kinda predictable for last moments, the presentation makes it more serious, intense and shocking.

However Dhadak  directed by Shashank Khaitan, casting Ishaan Khatter urf Madhu and Jhanvi Kapoor urf Parthavi  as leads is inadequate in its effort to do justice as a remake of Sairat.  Fairy tale improvisation of the story has lost the soul of romance and intimacy of the characters that would be relatable in real life  to audience. Glamorized  presentation of a simple family house, not to mention expensive mirrors, carpets, curtains etc and over emphasis on touristic views rather than real scenario of polluted slums has ruined some scenes like the dive for Parthvi on water which is not as serene as compared to original. Portrait of an alley of Udaipur into some fancy European style tourist hub in the first part of movie and unrealistic food competition as compared to local cricket match is unacceptably humble. Besides impressive work by Ajay atul on the music, it is unable to bear the  overdependence on plaback to establish and grow  romantic connections  between the characters and excess  thrust on establishment of empathy of audience due to scarce dialogues. Similar plots twisted in Dhadak than from Sairat are not as suited  decreasing the intensity and passion of romance and audience engagement in emotional level, as the level of confidence shown by Archie and the overpowering strength that allowed the character to take lead on run can not be seen in Parthavi. The scenes that should have been emotional to the level to lure audience into deep romantic bonding amongst characters have been rather stolen by the shine of background, taking the normal, realistic and serene lovestory into fairy tale touch.
Except for the  tik tok and apology song, originality and much more that could have been added to sweeten the story is missing as songs like Zingat has been killed to its soul. Representation of struggles in Karan Johar movies has forever been scarce, the same trend is followed in this movie as well. Climax of the movie  could have been much better shot from front and not rotating from back, showing first reaction of Parthavi, but it leaves audience hanging by sad copy of "no sound over grieving of lady" which is not as effective as closing scene of the Sairat.
So, in a nutshell, Sairat is a five star movie whereas Dhadak barely reaches two and a half stars.
